Youth coaches from Premier League holders Manchester City FC concluded a three-day coaching clinic involving 450 youngsters at the Bidhan Nagar Municipal Sports Complex here today.
The aim of the coaching clinics is to provide youngsters with comprehensive football training in a fun atmosphere with emphasis placed on teamwork and communication.
"Maybe we would have a football school in India like in Melbourne and Abu Dhabi, but no plan as of now," City youth coach Andy Smith said.
"Football in India can improve only when you have the proper infrastructure and youth development programmes like these.
"The children will benefit greatly from the expertise of the coaches and hopefully will take away many positive messages including the need to live a healthy lifestyle and work together to achieve their goals," an official of the programme said.
