Youth Congress chief Rajeev Satav, a close aide of Rahul Gandhi, was made party candidate from Hingoli in Maharashtra following talks at the top level between Congress and NCP.
Hingoli, a seat in Marathwada, had gone to NCP in the seat-sharing arrangement. The NCP got Raigad in return from which senior minister Sunil Tatkare will contest, party general secretary D P Tripathi told PTI.
The party has, however, left Hatkanangle seat in Kolhapur district for Congress. This will reduce the NCP's seats from 22 to 21 in the seat-sharing with the Congress, which will contest the rest 27 seats.
Congress has now fielded former Maharashtra minister Kalappa Avade from Hathkangale against Raju Shetti of Swabhimani Shetkari Sangathana, which is now part of Shiv Sena-BJP combine is the sitting MP there.
