The court also relied on the testimony of the girl and other evidence produced before it while convicting 22-year-old Lalit Chauhan and imposed a fine of Rs 45,000 on him.
It said that the prosecution has established that Chauhan had repeatedly raped the girl from December 2011 to March 2012 on the promise of marrying her but after she became pregnant, he refused to tie the knot with her.
"Nor the fact regarding the baby girl born to prosecutrix on September 4, 2012 was fathered by accused Lalit Chauhan has been disputed by the accused," Additional Sessions Judge M C Gupta said, adding the victim had "delivered a baby whose DNA profiling matched with Lalit Chauhan as a biological father."
The court convicted Chauhan, a resident of Vishvas Nagar here, for the offences punishable under the IPC, including section 376 (rape), and under provisions of the Information Technology Act.
On December 25, 2011, they had gone to 'purana qila' in the city where Chauhan mixed some stupefying substance in her cold drink after which she fell unconscious, the police said, adding Chauhan first took her nude photographs and then raped her.
