Youth held for child pornography on social media

A teenager was arrested for allegedly indulging in child pornography by creating a Facebook page where he uploaded images of girl children with sexually explicit comments.
19-year-old M Manikanda Prabhu, a resident of Pollachi Taluk in Coimbatore District, was arrested by the Crime-Branch CID police on a complaint from an NGO, working for prevention of child sexual abuse.
Following the complaint about the Facebook page, a case was registered under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Information Technology Act by CBCID Cyber Crime Cell.
"After collection of material evidence of the Facebook profile, immediate action was taken and it was removed," a CB-CID release said.

Further investigation revealed that "Manikanda Prabhu created this obscene Facebook profile on child pornography. He was brought to Chennai and remanded to judicial custody," the release said.
"Incriminating" material evidence including mobile phones and SIM cards were seized, it added.
