Accused Vijay Dwivedi, who posed as the son of the politician, used to get into high-profile circles and used various methods to dupe the people he met.

Interestingly, during the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010, Dwivedi had even called up a Congress leader and got a few passes to the India-Pakistan hockey match, saying he was Dwivedi's son, police said.

Police had earlier received complaints from a prominent production house as well as from a politician, following which, police kept a watch on Dwivedi movements.

When he was identified as the person who had been duping people, he was arrested from a building in Andheri's Lokhandwala Complex yesterday, police said.

He was produced before a local court today, which remanded him in police custody till October 16, police said adding that they would call the victims to the crime branch as part of the investigation.
