Surjit Singh, PA to the Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh, reported that on September 17 he received a call on the official phone in which the caller posing as a PMO official wanted to talk to Adviser Vijay Dev, an official release by Chandigarh Administration said today.
On being informed that the Adviser was not in office, the caller asked Singh for a personal favour. He called again later to ensure the work is done.
Acting on the complaint, a case under relevant sections of IPC and IT Act was registered and during the course of investigation, Raj Kesarwani, a resident of Rai Pur Khur village in Chandigarh, was arrested.
During interrogation the accused confessed to the crime and disclosed that he had called many other officials in the past in Chandigarh and Panchkula seeking personal favours.
Further investigation is being carried out by Cyber Crime investigation cell of Chandigarh police, the release added.
