MACT Presiding Officer Sanjeev Kumar Singh directed The New India Assurance Company Ltd to pay Rs 6,71,464 to Delhi resident Dilip Pandey, who sustained grievous injuries in the accident in 2013.
"After considering all the documents filed by petitioner (Dilip) as a whole, it is clear that respondent no. 1 (driver) was driving the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner," the tribunal said.
"I award Rs 6,71,464 as compensation," the tribunal's president said.
Due to the impact, Dilip fell down and sustained grievous head injury and other bodily injuries, it said.
Dilip, who was employed in a private firm, had approached the tribunal claiming a compensation of Rs 15 lakh.
