Police said Manas Patra (18) and his mother Kalpana (42) were hit in the head with a stick at their home in Rautara village by his elder brother Ganesh (24) early this morning during a feud over dividing money got from selling a goat.
Ganesh fled the spot and the neighbours on finding Manas and Kalpana lying bleeding rushed them to the nearby health centre, where the youth was declared brought dead.
Kalpana was transferred to Midnapore Medical College Hospital, where her condition was stated to be critical, police added.
