Youth killed in mishap, students block highway in protest

An engineering student was crushed to death today by a bus in Vijay Nagar area here, triggering protests by youths who blocked the NH-24 demanding immediate arrest of the driver.
23-year-old Vinay, a native of Dadri in Greater Noida, was going to college this morning on his bike when the mishap occurred, police said.
When Vinay reached Vijay Nagar, the speeding bus hit his bike from behind, killing him on the spot, they said, adding that after the mishap, the bus driver fled from the spot.
As the news of the mishap spread, a large number of students blocked the national highway in protest, and demanded immediate arrest of the driver.

This led to a traffic jam on the highway for nearly an hour, before the agitating students were assured of the arrest of the bus driver, they said.
