A 17-year-old student was killed in the old city of Hyderabad allegedly in a street-fight with another youth, police said today.
Nabil Ahmed collapsed in the fight with another youth, Owais, at Panjesha in the old city area on May 3, in the incident involving nearly seven-eight youths.
He was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, Mirchowk inspector Yadagiri Reddy said.
Ahmed's father Dastagir complained to police after the last rites were over, he said.
The body will be exhumed for autopsy, Reddy said.
A case of suspicious death has been registered now, but it is likely to be altered into a case of murder after further probe, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) V Satyanarayana.
The matter came to light today after the incident, which was filmed, was shown on television channels.
The DCP said it is a serious matter that a group of youngsters misled the parents of the deceased that he died in an accident and ensured that it did not get reported to police and also hospital.
