A 22-year-old youth allegedly killed his mother after she refused to give him money to buy a bike in neighbouring Ranga Reddy district of Telangana, police said today.
The incident occurred in Rajiv Nagar colony of Vikarabad town yesterday.
The accused, Anjaiah, was taken into custody today after the daughter of the deceased Lakshamma lodged a complaint, DSP P Narasimhaulu said.
"The accused allegedly hit his mother on her head with a firewood and she succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Hyderabad last night," he told PTI.
Investigation Officer G Ravi said that the accused, a private employee, had asked his mother for an amount to buy a bike. But, when she declined to pay, he allegedly hit her with the firewood.
A murder case has been registered in connection with the incident, the IO said, adding that further probe is on.
