The accused Surendra, working as a mechanic, was acquainted with the family of the deceased Madhu (40) and was pressurising her daughter to marry him. He even visited their home on several occassions, police said.
But Madhu rejected his marriage proposal for her daughter as they belonged to two different commuinities, a senior police officer said.
On May 29, when Madhu was alone at home Surrendra reached there, killed her by slitting her throat and fled from the spot, police said.
Police is interrogating him and further investigations are on.
They said Surrendra also allegedly molested the girl on several occasions, and as Madhu opposed his proposal, he made a plan to eliminate her.
