A 20-year-old youth, who was left to die on a railway track in Boisar near here allegedly by his cousin brothers, had a miraculous escape after he was saved by a villager in the nick of time, police said today.
"Pradip Yadav was kidnapped in an SUV and assaulted by the five accused on October 5 following a long-pending dispute over an ancestral land in Allahabad. They tied him up putting his head on the track and fled," Boisar police station officer Vishwas Patil said yesterday.
However, Pradip raised an alarm and his cries for help were heard by a villager passing nearby who rescued him, he said, adding "fortunately for Pradip, the train supposed to pass on the track was running behind the schedule that day".
While two of the five cousin brothers of Pradip, who works as a waiter at a hotel in Boisar, Dinesh Yadav and Chandrabali Yadav were arrested on October 8, three days after the incident, three others are still at large.
The two accused were yesterday produced before Palghar court which remanded them in police custody till Friday.
The accused are charged for rioting, kidnapping and attempt to murder under IPC sections, police added.
