A youth was shot dead in broad daylight in a suspected case of gang war here today in Pushp Vihar area of South Delhi, police said.
According to the police, Kapil, a resident of Sangam Vihar, was shot dead when he was sitting in a car along with a friend at around 4:00 PM.
Kapil was sitting in the driver's seat in a car parked in Sector 1 in Push Vihar when two men came on a bike and fired at Kapil from close range and fled from the spot. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead, said a police official.
His friend, who escaped unhurt in the incident, was questioned along with other witnesses of the incident to identify the attackers. Kapil had a tiff with some local criminals a few days ago and it may be a fall-out of that incident, police said.
"The assailants have been identified and efforts are on to nab them. We cannot reveal their identity now. Both Kapil and the assailants have previous criminal records and it seems to be a case of rivalry between two gangs of criminals", said a senior police official.
