The young generation of Hindus in the country should not indulge in activities that harm other religions but should learn to respect them, Vishwesha Tirtha Swamiji of the Pejawar Mutt said today.
Addressing the Virat Hindu Samajotsava held here as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, he said instead of pelting stones at churches and mosques the youth should respect other religions.
"We have to be peace-lovers and not problem-makers," he said.
On 'Ghar Wapsi' issue, he said the apprehensions about how the people who reconverted would be treated was unwarranted. "Whoever reconverts will be treated as how all Hindus are treated," he said.
The grand procession as part of the Samajotsava was flagged off by VHP leaders Ganesh Rao and Vijanath Shetty along with Odiyoor Gurudevananda Swamiji by releasing balloons in the air at the Ambedkar circle.
The city was virtually saffronised by banners and flags and the procession comprised tableaux and other decorations.
