Young people from 53 Commonwealth countries will get a chance to meet and interact with their political leaders at an event in London next month, British Deputy High Commissioner Bruce Bucknell has said.
As part of an initiative to celebrate the "role of youths in shaping the future of their countries", a youth forum meeting has been organised from April 16 to 18 in the UK, alongside the four-day meet of Commonwealth Heads of Government, Bucknell said at a function here last evening.
"The young representatives from different countries will come together and talk to their political leaders about things which matter to them and their countries," he said.
The heads of government will meet between April 16 and April 20 in London to deliberate on a whole gamut of issues - from common challenges like weak global trade and investment flows to new cross-border security threats and effects of climate change, he said.
Talking about India, Buckneil said, "The country has 738 million people under the age of 30. These people are going to play an important role in shaping the future of our planet."
Buckneil also spoke about the popularity of Indian food in the UK.

"Indian street food is very much available at the South bank of river Thames in London. From Dosas to Samosas, there is a wide range catering to people there" he said.
A street food fest was organised yesterday on the premises of British Deputy High Commission on the occasion of Commonwealth Day on March 12.
"Six leading hotels in city had taken part in a baking competition here. The winning cake was enjoyed by people who attended the event yesterday while the other four cakes were distributed among charities houses," he added.
