Youths clash with police in Srinagar

Clashes broke out today between police and groups of youths who indulged in stone-pelting in Jamia Masjid and adjoining localities here, officials said.
The clashes in Nowhatta, Saraf Kadal and Gojwara localities erupted shortly after Friday prayers and continued for several hours. Police fired teargas shells and used batons to disperse the youths, the officials said.
There was no causality reported in the clashes but normal activities were disrupted in the area.
Some of the youths displayed controversial flags and posters which has become a routine after Friday prayers in the vicinity of Jamia Masjid for the past several years.
