"After the culmination of Friday prayers some miscreants threw stones on forces at Kawdara and Saraf Kadal in downtown Srinagar, resulting in injuries to a pedestrain," a police spokesman said.
He said the injured, Mohammad Ramzan Gujree of Chak Kawoosa, was shifted to SMHS Hospital.
Gujree was hit by a stone in his right eye at Kawdara, the spokesman said, adding police exercised maximum restraint and the situation was brought under control immediately.
Official sources said the youth was part of a protest rally taken out by the supporters of the Mirwaiz from Jamia Masjid to Awami Action Committee headquarters at Rajouri Kadal against his house arrest.
Restrictions were placed on the movement of Mirwaiz and three other executive members of Hurriyat Conference - Shabir Ahmad Shah, Abdul Gani Bhhat and Bilal Gani Lone - this morning.
Although no reason was given for the move, sources said the leaders were placed under house arrest as a precuationary measure to maintain law and order in the city in view of Hurriyat "martyrdom week" programme to pay homage to Mirwaiz Moulvi Farooq and Abdul Gani Lone who were assassinated on May 21 in 1990 and 2002 respectively.
Chairman of hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani also remained under house arrest at his Hyderpora residence over the past couple of days.
