YSR Congress will highlight "failures" of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) led Andhra Pradesh government in implementing its poll promises, especially loan waiver of farmers and women groups, through agitation programmes starting next month.
"A decision to this effect was taken at a state-level meeting chaired by YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. The meeting has chalked out a programme to strengthen the party by forming committees at village and mandal level as well as carry out agitation programmes against the TDP-led state government," YSR Congress party's senior leaders Ummareddy Venkateswarlu, Vasireddy Padma, and Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy told reporters here today.
"The agitation programme will begin in October at the mandal level and escalate to the district level. An action plan is also being chalked out with Jaganmohan Reddy taking the lead," they said.
Earlier, state-level committees were formed in Andhra Pradesh as well as Telangana. Initially, focus would be on strengthening the party's organisational structure from village and ward level along with affiliated bodies of students, women, scheduled castes, backward castes and other wings.
At each level, the party has decided to appoint observers from outside to work with local leaders and strengthen the party, covering all constituencies, they said.
"The shoddy manner in which the TDP governs the state will be questioned at all levels and the loan waiver issue will be highlighted during the agitation programme, details of which will be released later," they said.
