Z3 arrested for cheating public of Rs 1.5 crore

Three persons were arrested for allegedly cheating a large number of persons of Rs 1.5 crore by impersonating as government officials with the promise of allotting them flats of the state slum clearance board.
Police said Shankararaja, a resident of Eachanari area here, posed as a Government official and took money from gullible persons promising to allot them the flats.
Following several complaints, police launched an investigation and arrested him along with his two accomplices late last night
Shankararaja reportedly told police that he had taken money from 90 persons, ranging from Rs50,000 to Rs five lakh, amounting to rs 1.5 crore.
Police said he told them that he wanted to live a luxurious life and construct a big house in the city and also help his father in law to build a house.
Besides he has helped a relative set up a water service centre, police said.
Investigations are on about other properties purchased by Shankararaja and of others helped him in the crime, so that those got cheated could be given the money back after attaching the properties, police said.
