FX has announced that Zach Galifianakis-starrer "Baskets" will conclude after the finale of its fourth season.

The show, created by the 49-year-old actor and Jonathan Krisel, takes a dig at the world constrained by corporate interests and the homogenisation of society where one man in Bakersfield, California dares to follow his dream of becoming a professional clown.

But after an unsuccessful enrollment at a prestigious clowning school in Paris, the only job he can find is with the local rodeo.

The series also features Louie Anderson, Martha Kelly and Alex Morris.

The fourth season currently airs on FX and its August 22 finale will now double as a series finale, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Over four seasons, 'Baskets' has taken its place among the great FX comedies as an endearing and hilarious look at the dreams and ambition of Chip Baskets and his extended, loving family," said FX Entertainment president Eric Schrier in a statement.

Embattled comedian Louise CK was once credited as co-creator of the show but his name was removed in the wake of sexual misconduct scandal.
