"The Hangover" star Zach Galifianakis is making his television debut with new comedy series "Baskets", which he has co-created along with Louis CK and Jonathan Krisel.
The show takes a dig at the world constrained by corporate interests and the homogenization of society where one man in Bakersfield, California dares to follow his dream of becoming a professional clown.
But after an unsuccessful enrollment at a prestigious clowning school in Paris, the only job he can find is with the local rodeo.
Galifianakis, 46, said the series was initially going to be about the behind-the-scenes of his Emmy award-winning comedy talk show "Between Two Ferns".
"Then I started thinking of other possibilities, and the city of Bakersfield and a clown with a chip on his shoulder made sense to me," Galifianakis said in a statement.
The actor said he was happy to collaborate with Louis, whom he has known since he started doing stand-up 20 years ago.
"He (Louis) was writing on 'Letterman' while I was still performing at a bar for guys watching hockey games. There was a lot of back and forth with him, knocking ideas back and forth. The process has been really nice. That comfort level is why I thought I could do a show."
"Baskets" premieres in India on Star World Premiere HD on January 24.
