"I wish to give chance to the women who could not make it to the earlier rounds. We would like it to be more participatory kind. I had greatly enjoyed the experience in the past episode. I wish to have the same feeling this time also," Banerjee, who had given many commercial hits opposite Bengali superstar Prosenjit, said.

Sujoy Kuttis, the Executive Vice-President of Zee Bangla, said while in the earlier versions of Didi no 1, over 500 women enrolled daily on an average for audition, they were bracing for a bigger turnout on the audition days this time.

"We are including career woman, college students along with homemakers this time. The format will also undergo a change," Kuttis said.

Asked if the name Didi No 1 had any comparison with 'Didi' being at the helm in Bengal, Kuttis said "we had introduced the first show when she was not the chief minister.

"But we would love to have her on our sets in an episode in future," he said.

To mark the launch of the show on Wednesday, the birthday of 'Bantul the great', the iconic cartoon character of Bengal, was celebrated with children with Rachana joining the party along with her 5-year old son.

Arijit Bhadra, head of Animatrix Productions, which brought out the multimedia edition of Bantul, said today's turnout of children showed how popular was the typical Bengali cartoon character even in this time.
