ZEEL launches Spanish movie channel in US

Media firm Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) has launched a Spanish movie channel Zee Mundo in the US market.
Zee Mundo is a premium HD movie channel, which will present modern Bollywood cinema, dubbed in Spanish, ZEEL said in a statement.
ZEEL has become the first India company to enter into the Hispanic market in US, it added.
"Both the markets share strong cultural similarities in terms of family structure, socio-economic conditions, food, music, art and culture," ZEEL CEO - International Broadcast Business Amit Goenka said.
He further said that "we are confident that Zee Mundo's programming will cross frontiers with storylines and themes that are relatable to the Hispanic audiences."

The company has plans to extend Zee Mundo to Latin American markets as Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Peru and Chile.

Zee Mundo will bring ZEE's entire library of HD movie titles to Latino, a person of Latin American origin or descent, audiences across the US, meticulously dubbed in Spanish, crossing five genres -action, romance, suspense, drama and comedy - and featuring movie stars including Priyanka Chopra, Shah Rukh Khan, Anil Kapoor, and Irrfan Khan.
ZEEL Head of Business, US Hispanic & Latin America Javier Lopez Casella said:" After successfully capturing the US Spanish market, we will be expanding over the next few months, into other Latin America markets including Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Peru and Chile".

Zee Mundo is available on DISH Latino, the first of several planned distribution deals in the US Hispanic market, which will eventually take the channel to other Latin American countries as well, he added.
