The national-level plans and programmes reach Nagaland at a later stage but under Prime Minister Narendra Modi many of them are now being launched simultaneously signaling the beginning of the spirit of cooperative federation in the country, Zeliang said.
"It is an indication that the Government of India is now serious to bring about inclusive development even for far- flung areas like Nagaland," he said initiating the Digital India Week here.
"The day is not very far, when people will say that if one does not know how to use computer, they will be considered as illiterate," he said.
"The Digital India programme has come at the opportune time for our people and we must not miss this golden opportunity to put them at par with the rest of the world.
Efforts would be made in this connection, he said, to improve optical fibre communication in the state by reaching the services to every district headquarter and sub-division.
Minister for Information Technology and Communication P Paiwang Konyak on the occasion appealed to the people of the state, especially the youth, to seize this opportunity of Digital India to transform the state.
