Singer-actress Zendaya Coleman is excited to launch her own Barbie doll based on her look at this year's Oscars.
The 19-year-old Disney star's look at this year's Oscars, which ignited controversy when "Fashion Police" host Giuliana Rancic claimed her dreadlocks looked like she smelled "like patchouli oil", is set to be immortalised in plastic form, reported People magazine.
The brunette beauty, who is also partnering with toy manufacturers Mattel to host the Rock n' Royals Concert Experience in Los Angeles next Saturday, said, "I'm excited to be a part of the new direction the Barbie brand is headed, specifically how they are celebrating diversity in the line and encouraging kids to raise their voices.
"It's a positive message to send to my fans, including my nieces who are coming with me to the concert," she said in an interview to Yahoo.
The "KC Undercover" actress jumped at the chance to help create the doll because she couldn't connect with traditional blonde Barbie dolls when she was younger.
"When I was little, I didn't have one that looked like me, so I couldn't connect with her in that way. But getting to visit the Mattel offices and see Barbie's vision for the future... It was really cool.
"I was able to see how they plan to diversify, broadening the horizons and the image of Barbie, and make it more, you know, open. I left the office feeling it was definitely something I wanted to be a part of," Zendaya said.
