The Calcutta High Court today restrained in an interim order the Purba Medinipur (East Midnapore) Zilla Parishad from any further construction of a permanent market place at Nandigram mouza.
Jaynarayan Giri and 15 others moved a writ petition alleging that Purba Medinipur Zilla Parishad, without acquiring the land measuring 0.38 acres at Nandigram mouza, floated a tender for construction of a permanent market place on November nine, 2012.
It was alleged that no acquisition was done and without acquiring a private land, a statutory body cannot issue tender for construction at the said place.
Justice Biswas directed that no construction be done untill further orders and directed the Zilla Parishad sabhadhipati to produce papers relating to the land and tender.
