Zinc prices fell by 0.39% to 140.50 per kg in futures trade today after speculators trimmed positions, tracking a weak global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in current month, August declined by 55 paise, or 0.39%, to Rs 140.50 per kg in business turnover of 467 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in the September contracts softened by 50 paise, or 0.35%, to Rs 141.15 per kg in 8 lots.
Analysts said the weakness in zinc at futures trade was mostly attributed to a weak trend in copper and other base metals in the global markets before July industrial production and retail sales data tomorrow from China, the world's biggest consumer of industrial metals.
