Zinc prices fell by 0.47 per cent to Rs 106.75 per kg in futures trade today after speculators cut down their positions despite a firming trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in current month shed 50 paise, or 0.47 per cent, to Rs 106.75 per kg in a business turnover of 386 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in January fell by 50 paise, or 0.46 per cent, to Rs 107.80 per kg in 178 lots.
Market analysts said zinc prices fell due to offloading of positions by participants amid subdued demand at domestic spot markets.
