Zinc prices drifted lower by 0.55 per cent to Rs 208.90 per kg in futures market today as speculators cut their bets after negative leads from spot market on easing demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in April month declined by 90 paise, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 208.90 per kg in business turnover of 307 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in May was trading lower by Rs 1.10, or 0.52 per cent to Rs 209.45 per kg in 105 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by traders owing to slackened demand from consuming industries in physical markets mainly kept zinc prices down at futures trade.
