Zinc futures edged up by 0.18% to Rs 137.70 per kg today as speculators created positions amid positive cues from global market and better domestic demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery this month rose 25 paise, or 0.18%, to Rs 137.70 per kg with a business turnover of 159 lots.
The metal for delivery in January 2015 also rose by 20 paise, or 0.15%, to trade at Rs 137.95 per kg, with a business turnover of 13 lots.
Marketmen said rebound in base metals in global markets after data showed the US economy, the second-biggest consumer of the metal, grew at the fastest pace since 2003, supported the upside in zinc prices at futures trade.
