Zinc prices traded higher by 0.32 per cent to Rs 174.20 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, taking positive cues from the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery August edged up by 55 paise, or 0.32 per cent, to Rs 174.20 per kg in business turnover of 2,470 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in September contracts was trading higher by 40 paise, or 0.23 per cent, to Rs 174.20 per kg in 71 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions built up by participants due to upsurge in demand from consuming industries in the physical markets mainly influenced zinc prices.
