Zinc prices moved up by 0.89 per cent to Rs 180.60 per kg in futures market today as speculators raised their bets, taking positive cues from the spot market on strong demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc prices rose by Rs 1.60, or 0.89 per cent, to Rs 180.60 per kg in a business turnover of 86 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in July contracts gained Rs 1.50, or 0.84 per cent, to Rs 180.85 per kg in 1,449 lots.

Analysts said widening of positions by participants, driven by pick up in demand from consuming industries in the spot market pushed up zinc prices in futures trade.
