Zinc futures rose by 0.64% to Rs 117.25 per kg after speculators increased bets amid a firming trend in base metals overseas and better domestic demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in March was up 75 paise, or 0.64%, to Rs 117.25 per kg, with a business turnover of 59 lots.
The metal for delivery in February also edged higher by 60 paise, or 0.52%, to Rs 116.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 1,065 lots.
Marketmen said besides a firming trend at domestic spot market, strength in base metals at the London Metal Exchange influenced zinc prices in futures trade.
