Zinc futures prices today edged up by 0.39% to Rs 141.80 per kg today as participants created speculative positions, amid a firm global trend and better domestic demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in October increased by 55 paise, or 0.39%, to Rs 141.80 per kg, with a business turnover of 205 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in current month traded higher by 50 paise, or 0.35%, to Rs 141.45 per kg in a turnover of 178 lots.
Globally, zinc for delivery in three months rose as much as $15 to $2,305 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

Traders said besides improved spot demand, a firming trend in base metals overseas on speculation that demand for the metal used to galvanise steel will out-pace supply, mainly led to the rise in zinc prices at futures trade here.
