Zinc softens on global cues

Zinc prices drifted by Rs 2 per kg at the non-ferrous metals market today following reduced industrial offtake amid a weak global trend.
However, other base metals held steady in narrow movements.
Traders said sentiment in zinc turned bearish after it snapped a six-day rally in global markets after China's trade data showed a larger-than-expected drop in imports by the world's biggest consumer of metals.
Meanwhile, zinc for delivery in three months declined 0.4 per cent to USD 2,201 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
In the national capital, zinc ingot declined by Rs 2 to Rs 116-122 per kg.
Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):
Zinc ingot Rs 116-122, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 1,055-1,060, Gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, Copper mixed scrap Rs 410, Chadri deshi Rs 285.
Lead ingot Rs 99, Lead imported Rs 100, Aluminium ingots Rs 158, Aluminium sheet cutting Rs 159, Aluminium wire scrap Rs 161 and Aluminium utensils scrap Rs 158.
