The President today wrote a condolence message to Sehgal's daughter Kiran.
Sehgal died yesterday at the age of 102.
"Zohra Sehgal was a veteran actress, theatre artist and TV personality. She delighted countless Bollywood and Hollywood film watchers by her memorable acting and unabated energy. She will always be remembered for her films like 'Bhaji on the Beach', 'Cheeni Kum', 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam', 'Saawariya' etc.
"Her singular contribution to Indian theatre and cinema was recognised through a number of awards including Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. Her death leaves a void in the world of art and creativity which will be difficult to fill," the President said in his letter.
