The deputy chief executive officer of zilla parishad (ZP), Dhule was arrested while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials said today.
Deputy CEO Tushar Mali (41) was caught red handed at a hotel room in Dhule while he was taking the bribe money from a Shiv Sena MLA from Nanded, for covering up the irregularities in procurement of food at a ZP-run school in Kapadane village of Dhule, an ACB press release issued here said.
According to the ACB officials, MLA Hemant Patil during his visit to the school on Thursday, found irregularities in procurement in food grains, which the school receives under state government's nutritious meal scheme.
The quantity of food grains like rice and wheat procured by the local administration was found to be less, the release said.
When pulled up, the ZP official offered bribe to the MLA and not take up the matter ahead, after which Patil approached the ACB Dhule unit and Mali was nabbed while taking money.
