ZP engineers to donate 1 day wage for hailstorm-hit people

Engineers attached with the Zilla Parishads in Maharashtra have decided to donate their one day salary for the welfare of people affected by recent hailstorms and unseasonal rains.
This was decided at an emergency meeting of the Managing Committee of their apex organisation, Zilla Parishad Abhiyanta Sanghatana, here today.
Talking to reporters here, Sanghatana Vice-President Mohanrao Pawar said the meeting discussed the situation arising out of the natural calamity and members decided to reach out to people in their hour of need.
It was decided the engineers would contribute their one day salary for the people hit by hailstorms and untimely rains, which have destroyed crops and damaged houses, he said.
There are more than 6,000 ZP engineers at various levels and their contribution will come around Rs 25 lakh, Pawar said, adding the money collected will be donated to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
