The benchmark BSE Sensex was up 0.77 percent at 27,305.53 as of 1:05 p.m. after hitting a record of 27,358.85. The broader Nifty rose 0.75 percent.
Infosys was up 2.3 percent while Dr.Reddy's Laboratories gained 1.4 percent.
Realty shares rose after the government relaxed rules for foreign investment in construction.
DLF gained 3.4 percent, Sobha Developers was up 1.75 percent.
A lower-than-expected increase in wheat support prices also aided sentiment.
