REUTERS - Indian shares rose about 1 percent on Wednesday, recovering most of the previous session's losses, as financials such as HDFC Bank bounced back, while metal stocks rose on higher commodity prices.
The broader NSE index closed 0.9 percent higher at 9,884.40, while the benchmark BSE index ended up 0.82 percent at 31,646.46.
HDFC Bank rose 1.4 percent, while JSW Steel Ltd ended 4.9 percent higher.
