Sensex, Nifty hit life highs after BoJ surprise easing

MUMBAI (Reuters) - The BSE Sensex and Nifty surged to record highs for a second consecutive session on Friday after Bank of Japan's surprise expansion of its massive stimulus programme raised hopes for additional foreign inflows, boosting blue-chips such as Larsen & Toubro.

The 30-share Sensex rose as much as 1.96 percent to an all-time high of 27,894.32, while the Nifty gained as much as 1.97 percent to mark a record high of 8,330.75, surpassing their previous highs hit on Thursday.

The benchmark BSE Sensex closed 1.9 higher at 27,865.83 while the broader Nifty ended up 1.87 percent at 8,322.20.

Larsen & Toubro surged 3.6 percent, while Housing Development Finance Corp rose 3.9 percent.

Both the indexes also marked their eighth month of gains in nine.
