US stocks were lower at the open on Tuesday after poor trade data out of China rekindled fears about a slowdown in the global economy.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 63.21 points, or 0.37%, to 17,010.74, the S&P 500 lost 9.49 points, or 0.47%, to 1,992.27 and the Nasdaq composite dropped 33.35 points, or 0.71%, to 4,674.91.
