Market cap of SMEs on BSE crosses Rs 7,800 crore

The market capitalisation of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) listed on the BSE SME platform touched Rs 7,860.9 crore at close of trading today. The number of companies actively traded was 20.

There has been a lot more activity on the bourse these days with more companies listing, taking the total number to 65, according to a post on the web site of the Federation of Indian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (FISME). Among firms waiting to be listed are Amsons Apparels, JLA Infraville Shoppers Limited, Naysaa Securities, and Powerhouse Fitness and Realty Ltd.

BSE commenced the SME platform in March 2012 and in this period of over two years, BSE has achieved more than 90 per cent market share, helping Indian SMEs create a market capitalisation of more than $1 billion.

The average IPO size on the BSE SME is close to Rs 9 crore per issue.

The BSE SME Platform offers an entrepreneur an investor-friendly environment, which enables the listing of SMEs from the unorganised sector scattered throughout India, into a regulated and organised sector, FISME said.
