Demanding withdrawal of 15 per cent hike in the electricity tariff for them, nine industry associations, representing about 40,000 units, today announced they would hold a blackflag protest and stage a demonstration next month.
Black flags would be hoisted atop the units, majority of them small and medium enterprises, on January 6 and the demonstration would be held on the next day here, office-bearers of the associations told reporters here today.
President of Association of Tiny and Cottage Industries of Tamil Nadu James said the industries had suffered due to power cut during the last five years. The recent 'sudden' increase in power tariff had put the units in total jeopardy.
They wanted the hike to be withdraw or extension of subsidy in the electricity charges by the government, he added.
