11.50% Gilt Sees Rs 120-Cr Trades

The Wholesale Debt Market at the National Stock Exchange witnessed active trading activity with 130 trades being transacted accounting to volume of Rs 866.68 crore.

The government securities segment witnessed high volatility with prices showing movement between 30 to 50 paise. The 11.50-per cent government loan maturing in 2005 witnessed price differences of 50 paise during the day. It quoted a low of Rs 103.50 and closed at a high of Rs 104. The paper showed trading volume of Rs 120 crore and was traded at the weighted yield of 10.79 per cent. The 10.85-per cent government loan maturing in 2001 was traded for Rs 100 crore at the weighted yield of 9.87 per cent. There were 16 trades for the paper at the low of Rs 102.78 and high of 102.97 for the day.

The 12.5-per cent government loan maturing in 2004 was traded at the weighted yield of 10.51 showing a trading volume of Rs 80 crore. The paper was traded at the low of Rs 108.85 and high of Rs 109.13.

Despite the call money market ruling in the 3-5 per cent region, there was only one deal for the 364-day treasury bills maturing on October 23, 1998 worth Rs 5 crore, at the weighted yield 7.8 per cent.
