12.59% Gilt Draws Rs 170cr Trades

The wholesale debt segment of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) has registered a turnover of Rs 761.71 crore yesterday.

However, corporate debentures contributed only Rs 58.80 lakh to the total volume.

The total volume for the week surged to Rs 2784.76 crore.

The 12.59 per cent government securities maturing in 2004 were traded actively for Rs 170 crore at a weighted average yield of 12.27 per cent.

The 12.14 per cent paper maturing in 2000 came to a close second with a traded volume of Rs 130 core at a yield of 11.17 per cent.

The zero coupon bond maturing in 2000 was traded at a yield of 10.82 per cent for a total amount of Rs 50 crore.

The 364-day treasury bill maturing on April 10, 1998, was dealt for Rs 100 crore at a weighted yield of 8.12 per cent.

The paper with a maturity on April 24, 1998, was also traded for Rs 45 crore.

On the corporate segment, the zero per cent Reliance Petro PPD contributed a lions share to the total volume.

The counter witnessed 414 deals worth around Rs 50 crore. Others reported trades worth a measly Rs 8 lakh.
