The wholesale debt market at the National Stock Exchange clocked a turnover of Rs 186.44 crore yesterday as against the previous days trading volume of Rs 85.37 crore. Of this, the corporate debentures accounted to trade worth Rs 1150.08 lakhs.
The interbank call rates remained in the range of 8.50 per cent to 9 per cent. There were net sellers in the market, only the large nationalised bankers were buying, said a broker at the NSE. The 12.59 per cent government loan maturing in 2004 showed a volume of Rs 25 crore at the weighted yield of 11.61 per cent. The paper was traded for a low of Rs 104.39 and closed at the high of Rs 104.43. The 13.40 per cent government loan maturing in 1999 witnessed a volume of Rs 20 crore and was traded at the weighted yield of 10.76 per cent. Papers having shorter tenure were in demand, said brokers.
The 13.62 per cent government loan maturing in 1998 was traded for Rs 15 crore at the weighted yield of 15 crore. The 10.85 per cent government loan maturing in 2001 showed a volume of Rs 20 crore at the weighted yield of 11.08 per cent. There were three trades in the IDBI02 13.50 per cent paper at the weighted yield of 13.11 per cent, showing a volume of Rs 8 crore.
