Infotech and cement counters were buoyant on the Calcutta Stock Exchange

(CSE) yesterday. Pivotals saw mixed performance. According to CSE

dealers, "The sentiment has been upbeat, with key counters across the

board closing at appreciably higher levels." There was moderate bear

covering deals during the day in view of today's settlement, operators

said.

The CSE-40 index moved between 2,215.98 points and 2,187.11 points

before closing at 2,211.13 points, gaining 18.43 points against the

previous close of 2,192.70 points.

ITC Ltd opened at Rs 674.70, touched a high of Rs 689.90 and a low of Rs

668.40, before closing around previous levels at Rs 670.90. Reliance

Industries was upbeat opening at Rs 226.50. The counter fluctuated

between Rs 240 and Rs 225.90 and closed firm at Rs 235.90.

Cement scrips had a profitable day with ACC closing at Rs 261.10 and L&T

closed at Rs 516. Satyam Computers opened at Rs 2,193.80 ranged between

Rs 2,300 and Rs 2,170 and closed at Rs 2,242.50. Pentafour Software

opened at Rs 1,408.90 saw a high and low of Rs 1,448.80 and Rs 1,370

before closing at Rs 1,406.60. The turnover was fair and undertone firm. Infosys demand sparks smart rise
