30,000 Tonnes Of Grains Moved

Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL) is transferring the manufacturing facilities of the erstwhile Lakme unit at Deonar near Mumbai to its newly acquired plant at Kandla in Gujarat.

HLL has already transferred part of the production facilities to its own manufacturing units.

A company spokesperson confirmed the development, saying that all the workers in the Deonar factory have been given a voluntary retirement scheme. He further pointed out that the company has not yet decided on how to use the property.

At the time of acquiring Lakme, HLL had not valued the two factories at Deonar and Kandla. The deal between the companies envisaged that the factories would be paid for separately after an independent valuer determined a fair price for the assets.
